Where I paint
I am a Chicago artist but I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. My family has a farm on the North Saskatchewan and a cabin at Emma Lake and these environments have deeply informed my sense of the landscape. I make frequent trips back to Canada and try to paint there at least once a year. There is a vibrancy to the art scene in Saskatoon as well which is invigorating. It is not just a local thing, either. There is world class art being done there. On the other hand, I am usually in the south-west Chicago suburbs where I have a studio. I'm intrigued by the suburb-ness of it all and I am trying to work that into my art so stay tuned. Also, my husband is from Louisiana and I feel a deep connection to the close, heaviness of the moss covered landscape and to the sense of the past brought forward into the present.
